We hold and
maintain a database of items reported stolen, by users of our Workshop
Beaver package (electronic equipment repairers and calibrators) and their
customers and by other people.
How It Works
A data file containing serial numbers and descriptions of items from this
database is loaded on each Beaver system and is automatically updated
whenever a new item is reported stolen. Whenever a Beaver user enters
a serial number into Beaver the software checks the serial number against
the database of stolen items. If it finds a match it shows the user a
description of the item and asks them if this is the item they are booking
it in.
If it is then Beaver will tell them the item has been reported stolen
and ask them to phone us quoting a crime report number. We will then
get in touch with the person from whom the item was stolen and get
them to liaise with the Beaver user to take things further.
If you have any items you want to report stolen please fill in the form
below.
Note that this information will be treated in confidence: Beaver sites will only get a
serial number and description; no ownership details will be sent to them.
Please feel free to pass this offer on to other people. We will accept
stolen item reports from anyone, indeed our database already includes
items stolen from various users who heard about it via the Internet, by word
of mouth and we continue to publicise it wherever we can.
Finally note that we can only take reports of items for which you
have accurate serial numbers and which are the sort of items our Beaver
customers are likely to see eg: PCs and peripherals, meters, scopes, other
test gear, audio and video equipment.
